Seeks to hire Lecturer: Screen Production and Film and Television Studies

The Centre for Film and Media Studies (CFMS) in the Faculty of Humanities wishes to appoint a suitable candidate to the above post to oversee its flagship undergraduate Screen Production Programme.
Requirements include:
o A Master's level qualification is a minimum, while a PhD or significant progress towards the completion of a PhD would be desirable.
o Active research interests as evidenced by conference attendance and/or publications and/or creative output
o Experience in teaching foundational screen production skills in fiction filmmaking at undergraduate level
o Experience in teaching academic courses in film and television studies to large and small groups and supervision of creative and research projects.
The following will be advantageous:
o Experience in networking with industry professionals who could contribute to screen production training in the Centre for Film and Media Studies
o The ability to promote the African Cinema Unit and the UCT TV Studio.
Responsibilities include:
o Overseeing the undergraduate screen production stream from a selection of students to supervising their final senior research projects.
o Contributing to teaching in the Major in Film and Television Studies and to postgraduate courses in Film and Television Studies
o Undertaking research in Film and Television Studies.
The annual remuneration package, including benefits for 2011, is R403 124. Application process:
