Düsseldorf Cologne Open Galleries 2011
dc-open.de
For the third time, this year's DC Open is taking the Rhineland to the center stage of current art events. Once again around 70 Düsseldorf and Cologne galleries are inviting the international art scene to a collective opening weekend. A free shuttle service will be provided for art collectors and professionals, but also the general, culture-interested public. The shuttles will be operating the entire Saturday, providing transportation between Cologne-Düsseldorf and four to six main stops in the cities.
With the newly positioned Art Cologne and the by now established quality of the DC Open as a gallery weekend in late summer, the Rhineland's steadily strong position is maintained and more: recourse to the regional market forces that are rich in tradition, including a liberal collecting tradition, as well as eminent institutions all leads to a reevaluation of this art region. The Langen Foundation, partner of DC Open and co-organizer of this year's collector's dinner is an outstanding example of a private initiated commitment to art and culture: a top-class collection in a Tadao Ando building near Neuss and Düsseldorf, close to Insel Hombroich and the Rheingold Collection in Schloss Dyck.
