That Obscure Object of Art

Ca' Rezzonico, Dorsoduro 3136 (Fondamenta Rezzonico)

from June 4  to October 5

Recent contemporary Russian art, a product of the cultural underground, has been exhibited in an oversimplified way: during the Soviet period, as an impulse towards creative freedom; after the perestroika, as a symbol of democratization. This project offers an alternative: it shows Russian art of the 1970s-2000s as an "obscure object" with a complex inner structure, as a practice of producing a never-ending story.
