Lucidity. Inward Views is the theme proposed by Anne-Marie Ninacs for the 12th presentation of Le Mois de la Photo à Montréal, which will be held from September 8 to October 9, 2011. For the occasion, 25 solo exhibitions will be spread throughout Montreal transforming the city into a vast and coherent group show. The camera will be completely turned around for the event, showing that photography can also bring into focus our interior world.

UNVEILING OF THE 2011 PROGRAM
The 12th presentation of Le Mois de la Photo à Montréal will be resonating with the theme proposed by guest curator Anne-Marie Ninacs: Lucidity. Inward Views. The exhibitions, the publication, the colloquium, the special events and the educational activities are all organized around this theme. Between September 8 and October 9, discover the 25 solo exhibitions and public interventions spread across Montréal in 14 sites, including the Arsenal - a brand new space dedicated to contemporary art located in Griffintown.
EXHIBITIONS
Le Mois de la Photo à Montréal presents 25 artists from 17 countries including Canada. Many of the works are exhibited for the first time in Canada some of which have been created especially for the event. A special project bringing together 10 solo exhibitions by artists working in photography and media arts, will be presented at the Arsenal.
In addition to the Arsenal, Le Mois de la Photo à Montréal is proud to be collaborating with 13 other exhibition sites for the event: articule, Centre des arts actuels Skol, Centre d'art et de diffusion CLARK, Dazibao en résidence à la Cinémathèque québécoise, Galerie B-312, Leonard & Bina Ellen Art Gallery - Concordia University, Galerie de l'UQAM, MAI (Montréal, arts interculturels), Maison de la culture Frontenac, Maison de la culture du Plateau-Mont-Royal, McCord Museum, Optica, un centre d'art contemporain, and SBC Gallery of Contemporary Art.

> PRE-LAUNCH PARTY - Wednesday, Sept 7, from 6 pm to 10 pm
Enjoy exclusive access to more than 250 works by 10 artists - Roger Ballen, Jack Burman, Gemmiform, Marco Godinho, Douglas Gordon, Rinko Kawauchi, Corine Lemieux, Yann Pocreau, Normand Rajotte, and Augustin Rebetez - presented at the Arsenal. Rub elbows with artists, gallery owners, curators and art professionals while enjoying a cocktail. See the performance by Gemmiform, a multidisciplinary collective, whose emerging practice of boldly blending of digital and analog sound and image, creates a poetic and organic experience.

Attend a visit and discussion hosted by guest curator Anne-Marie Ninacs, with participation of 17 Canadian and foreign artists: Alfonso Arzapalo, Roger Ballen, Jack Burman, Gemmiform, Marco Godinho, Massimo Guerrera, Luis Jacob, Rinko Kawauchi, Corine Lemieux, Cristina Nuñez, Yann Pocreau, Normand Rajotte, Claire Savoie, Augustin Rebetez, Jim Verburg, and Lisa Steele + Kim Tomczak. Coffee and pastries will be served.

> COLLOQUIUM - Friday, Sept 30, from 9:30 am to 15:30 pm
As a complement to the exhibition program, Le Mois de la Photo à Montréal presents the international colloquium Lucidity?. This international-scale gathering will bring together art historians, philosophers, artists and exhibition curators, whose reflection will start from a proposition of lucidity as the bringing to light of facts that are hiding from thought. The Dazibao Award will be given at the closing of the colloquium. Meet the speakers in the intimate ambience of the Shaughnessy House at the reception immediately following the colloquium.

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM
Our educational activities will concentrate on the 10 exhibitions by local and foreign photography and new media artists that are presented at the Arsenal, as well as installations in several nearby public spaces. In addition, the reading room at Arsenal provides a rich array of documentation about the artists, texts related to the curatorial theme, as well as a selection of publications from Le Mois de la Photo à Montréal. PUBLICATION
Each presentation of the biennale is accompanied by a lushly illustrated publication. Much more than an exhibition catalogue, Lucidity. Inward Views features previously unpublished essays addressing the event's theme as well as colour reproductions of the works featured in the exhibitions.
This bilingual 345-page reference book will be available for $34.95 CAD plus taxes in better bookstores and at a number of exhibition sites just prior to the event's opening.
ABOUT THE EVENT
Le Mois de la Photo à Montréal is an international biennale that has been investigating issues relating to contemporary photography and other lens-based art for more than 20 years. For each presentation of the event, a guest curator proposes a new and unique theme around which all of the exhibitions, a publication, and a colloquium are organized.
