The Fundación Cisneros/Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros is pleased to announce Jac Leirner in conversation with/en conversación con Adele Nelson, the third title in the CONVERSACIONES/CONVERSATIONS series. The 200-page bilingual (English-Spanish) book presents an extended dialogue between the Brazilian conceptual artist, Jac Leirner, and writer and art historian Adele Nelson. The book includes an introductory essay by Robert Storr, Dean of the Yale School of Art.

Jac Leirner (born 1961) emerged in the early 1990s at the forefront of a new, transnational generation of artists looking to the art of the 1960s and 1970s as a point of departure. Leirner's meticulously constructed works carve out a place for commonplace objects, from cigarette packs and plastic shopping bags to cutlery and currency. In this, the first in-depth study of Leirner's creative process, Nelson interviews the artist about more than two decades of production.

Adele Nelson, Leirner's partner in this conversation, is a doctoral candidate in art history specializing in modern and contemporary art of Brazil at the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University, from which she received an MA. From 2006 to 2009 she was a curatorial assistant in the Department of Painting and Sculpture at the Museum of Modern Art, New York. She has taught at the City College of New York and New York University.

CONVERSACIONES/CONVERSATIONS is a new series of bilingual books featuring unique in-depth conversations between Latin American artists and leading critics, curators, and art historians. Each illustrated volume presents a comprehensive first-hand account of the artist's development accompanied by critical reflections by the authors.
